My NEW eXmark Lazer Z X-Series with RED technology

Picked up my new 2013 eXmark Lazer X-Series 60" with Kohler EFI with RED Technology (E-Gov) on Friday May 10th. After snapping a few pictures, I drove right to my first lawn as it's been growing pretty good here.

First impressions are great!

The engine is a beast. 999cc's of pure power. I've never had this much power on a mower before. I highly doubt that I made it struggle at all on Friday, and I was mowing some 8-10" grass in spots! It is really shoe-horned into the engine compartment. Makes the 29 Kawi Lazers look like a toy.

The seat. This new eXmark seat is really something! The amount of travel is unreal. Much more than any suspension seat I've ever owned (older JD F-935 seats, 1st gen Michigan LC'd Lazer, and 2nd gen Michigan Hustler). They say it's 3 inches of travel, but it's so smooth and linear. Plus the cushion and armrests themselves are SOOOO soft. Like sofa soft!

Deck. I'm sure it's just like any other Series 6 Ultra-Cut. Cuts head and shoulders above that of my XR-7. The vacuum effect is so noticeable. Discharge is great, no clumps, and very little-if any-double cutting! If I double cut, it's go get rid of 8-10"s of clippings, not to "crisp-up" the cut. I'm trying to get a hold of some 3" Super-High Lift (1/4" thick) Fusions like the VX4 deck comes with. They don't make them with 15/16" center hole though

Took off 2/3'rds of the ROPS. Left the trim-side base as that has fuel breather lines inside.

Just changed the oil/filter tonight. They say 5hrs, but with 4.2 on the clock, the next time I get a chance it could easily have 12-15. I was surprised that it holds 3qts! Just about every other engine out there holds 2qts.

I'm going to try to post a few pics. Didn't break out the SLR yet, just got a few snaps at the dealer with the iPhone....

Notice in the engine picture...they are wrapping the fuel line in a heat resistant silicone sleeve.

They also installed thick silicone flap material around the engine as a debris blocker?

Congrats bro! That seat is the nicest one I've ever had the pleasure of sitting on. I sat in it for about an hour while talking with the Exmark engineer at the local open-house a moth or two ago. Those machines are the wave of the future I believe. The engineer said they have a ton of stuff planned for the brain box, but didn't want to introduce too much all at once and overwhelm the customer. He said the potential is almost limitless with the brain, and that it had that much processing capability. He also said that most of the stuff they introduce over the next few years will be able to be easily integrated into existing machines.

Congrats!! Nothing like the new smell of a mower! It sounds like you're playing catch up but when you get a chance post some pics of cut or better yet do a MicHippy video for us! Video are about as close as we can get to being there. Always wanted to go down under.

Did you purchase any other options? Their web site is a little veg. They list lights, bagger, etc. and then it'll say "kit u drive". I asked a dealer and they laughed and said they had no idea. No pics of accessories that I can find either. I'd like to see the OCDC, striper, and some other things.

I'm super curious how the deck cuts and clippings disperse. Also interested in ride since you were used to FFs , the lack of speed, and your take on RED and it's controls. Already love the 999cc EFI.

The fuel line wrap I get and think it's a great idea especially with everything so tight in there. I'd be worried the silicone flap around the engine would reduce needed air flow or movement and trap the hot air. Be nice to know their thought process behind that one is.

Did they do away with the deck lift handle? My wife liked the option to help lift when she didn't have enough leg.

Also find it strange that the web sight shows the 940 as having 940cc not the 999cc it shows on the engine sticker.

How hard would it be to unhook the fuel line breather lines to remove the rest of the ROPS?

Questions, questions, questions... lots of questions.........
