Bid help!!

I picked up this property at the beginning of this season. Good size yard, $100 every 7-10 days. Last time I was there the owner asked me what I would charge to clean out the beds in the front and put down new mulch. As far as how to do it that is no problem, as I did plenty of this type of work with an LCO i worked for before going out on my own. Ive done a few mulch jobs, but nothing this far gone. My hourly rate is $40, which I have already told her. Ill have a guy helping me, but hes family and i just pay him $10 an hour cash. My biggest question is how many hours to quote it. My thought is 3-4, but I could be way off. She wants black mulch which i get for $23/yard and charge $33/yard(price if you walk in off the street). I feel like 4 yards of mulch would be needed. As you can see from the pictures its very far gone and honestly if it was mine I would pull everything up and replant all new, but that's not what she wants to do. So help me out guys. Ive been on my own 3 years now and really gotten comfortable with what i'm doing, and what i'm offering. Thanks in advance.

First of all, I would never share my hourly rate with a customer, otherwise they just look at it as paying that amount for just your labor. Just figure out how many hours it will take, plus your materials with any markup and you're done.

The next time someone complains about your pricing, ask them how much their barber would charge to come over and cut their hair.

Yea jr is right. I also think your 4 yards should be good. If it was me I would get it reasonably cleaned up then put down some bed matting so it stays looking good with min weed pulling down the road. I buy it at Costco in 4ft wide for 40-50$.

13.5 MH clean/pruning/prep work to beds

13.5 x $40 PMH = $540

4 CY purchased delivered and installed @ $72.5 PCY

4 x $72.5 = 290

Hope that helps
