toro proline 52" 18hp kohler - not getting spark

hey, I recently bought a 52" toro proline from someone, first day i went to use it, the starter was sluggish and wouldn't turn over faster enough, then the belt snapper, sat for 2-3 days , put new belt on and now try to start it, turn key and push the button, and hear no noises, try to jump it and it doesn't do anything, no clicks, no nada. anyone have any ideas as to what it may be? i'm think solenoid or starter? thanks for any tips/advice

To save back and forth questions can you post the machine model AND serial numbers along with the engine model AND spec numbers ?

Sounds like the wiring is someone's cob job, We were a Toro dealer and I don't recall seeing one with a on-off switch and push button start.....
