Just wrap it around and rip it open when you need to.

Or those twisty, wrappy, thingies...
(they come in small sizes too)

ive never used mine long term because were solely residential where I have to change whip speed constantly for varying conditions so ive never worn one out

only time I use trigger lock is if we get an overgrown yard where im whipping tall stuff for like a half hour

I miss the round redmax rubber handles big time though . easier to hold plus greater control of whip for detail work like edging curbs / flower beds etc

got one that I use a zip tie on. I pulled the trigger to 3/4 throttle and zipped it in that position.
That way I can slip it on/off the trigger when needed. Thought about adding grease to the trimmer where it has a zerk, but that's to easy.
