Besides a time clock. (which in my case doesnt work) The guys have been writing their times in. But as Im sure you have seen sometimes the times dont jive and not to say you cant trust people but lets face it. You cant! So this is what I am switching too. http://www.linxup.com/
GPS the truck and you know when it leaves, you know when it comes back and you know how long they have been where. As well as if they go driving around while on the clock. You cant always be there but you can always follow them from the sky! $20 a month (2 yr agreement) and $99 for the unit. My shipped out today and cant wait to see what they are up to.

Time clocks and employing people you trust. Always trust but verify. If you show your guys you don't trust them, then it will backfire. Find the right guys, delegate the correct responsibility, and show that you trust them but are always there if they mess up. Just my two cents

Good points Chevy! I should add that i would never hire someone I didnt trust (at least not put them in charge, hard to trust a new hire until they prove themselves). but it is easy for guys to look at the clock at 5:15 and call it 5:30. Thats what I am seeing. I dont have a shop (just some land to park/store on at this point) so a time clock wont work for our outfit.

If you have a website you could use PHP Timeclock. Works pretty well for just keeping track of when an employee clocks in/out. All web based and ran from your own hosting account. It's no longer updated, but I've never had issues with it. http://timeclock.sourceforge.net/
