I agree with mono but me being new I didn't want to say it. This mower can be bought at a Gravely dealer and I have heard nothing but good things about them. http://www.mowersdirect.com/Ariens-9...m=free+portals I have even thought about it myself once I get rolling. He says for the money there isn't a better mower, and it comes with a Kohler Courage not a Briggs like most cheaper mowers. And Gravely is are the ones who help with design if I'm not mistaken.

One more thing, these are also stamped decks, but are 12gauge instead of the more common 16gauge.

Here are a few in your area to consider as well, but if you want to go new I highly suggest a dealer not Tractor Supply or Lowes. http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/grd/3861666837.html http://toledo.craigslist.org/grd/3843674640.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/grd/3830028073.html here is the Ariens used could prob get cheap http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/for/3804449765.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/grd/3766797726.html you get the idea, some of the older mowers don't look spectacular but they have the heavy deck and low hours for the year (under 1000) that says they have not likely been commercial long or ever. But if your like me and poor an needed something to cut those huge lots I would buy the biggest ugliest mower I could that had the lowest hours, Kohler or Kaw engine and it would have to have a heavy or fabbed deck, just my 2 cents. And those guys asking 3000 don't be afraid to offer them 2k, I price my used stuff a little high to leave myself wiggle room and everyone prices their stuff high when they are trading, it's proven.

Looking at LBO's posts, I would recommend the exmark Turf Ranger. It has the largest deck of the ones from craigslist that he posted. It also only has 5** hours on it, so it still has plenty of life left and it looks like it's in pretty decent shape. The grasshopper is a decent looking machine as well, but I've heard of a lot of folks having issues with them, but they will definitely mow some grass. I'm just curious how well they would maneuver around the obstacles that you have to get around. If you are looking at new machines, I definitely agree with LBO, stay with a dealer, not Lowe's or Home Depot, you could have two "identical" machines, one from a dealer and one from Lowe's and I can guarentee that they are different. Typically the stuff you see at the big box stores is built with cheaper components to drive cost down. They will do alright for a year or two, but much after that they will start causing problems for you. They are designed with a home owner in mind, not a commercial LCO.

That grasshopper is a really good machine ive owned 2 or 3 over the years and soldt them with over 2500 hrs but still going strong. But they take up more room on a trailer. They also do well in dusty weedy lawns you can idle down while mowing accross dustywing under bushes etc. areas stir up less dirt, good for mo

sorry for the gibberish my keyboard is acting up.

Yeah it sounds like he needs a hoss if he wants to make any money at all on his new gig. If he's taking that long to mow he is losing money, and health, lol. If you bought a stamped steel deck "El Cheapo" you would wear it out in a hurry on that deal, oh and one thing they don't tell you on those cheap mowers with the 3 year warranty. It's strictly residential, if they think your mowing for money with it, your warranty is just a piece of paper.

First off LBO I need you to do my Craigslist searching from now on LOL. Yeah the account was just not gonna work, so I think I'll keep searching and buy when the time is right. Although that Great Dane looked like it may have done the job....

No prob, I'm here to help. My mentor always said go as heavy and as low of hours as you can. He said the best finds on used equipment was the stuff that was over 5 years old but didn't even have 750 hours on it, those are what he called "Papaws" someone bought a big dog to mow just there property and babied it most of the time.
