What type of plant is this??

I stumbled across this huge plant and took a piece. It smells really good. It has a nice cologne smell. Does anyone recognize this plant?

second Keith. Certainly gardenia. Prune no later than August to protect next year's blooms. It is also bloom on new wood, so you can trim it after the first flush ends towards the 15th or so of July.
