Kawasaki FR600V oil

Before it's time for me to cut for the first time this year I'm getting a head start and replacing the oil in my Hustler Sport with a Kawasaki FR600v 20.0 engine.

Just curious as to what everyone else is running in their mowers?

I'll add my bit to this thread. Pay attention to the API of the oil. Current and most up-to-date one is SN. SJ, SL and SM are still ok to use. But do not use anything older than SJ, like SF, SG or SH (or even older).

In my new FT SD 48, I'm currently using Tutela 10W30 (with an API of SN). It is a conventional oil. I'll switch to synthetic after 50 hours.

I know many will say it is ok to switch to synthetic after only 5 hours, but I'm from the old school and I prefer to play safe. After all, there is no penalty for using conventional oil for the first 50 hours. Better too much time for the break-in of the engine, than not enough.

I'll most likely switch to Mobil 1 SAE 30 after the first 50 hours.

Have been using Mobil 1 in every 4-cycle engine I own for many nearly 20 years. I have a lot of engines and have never had a hint of engine failure. May be Iím lucky.

I'm running Shell Rotella 10w30 semi synthetic in mine with no issues. Yes, the Rotella is a diesel oil but it has far more zinc and phosphorous than any off the shelf automotive oils have.
