Lakefront Retaining Wall

Went to look at a job today of about 30' of lakefront. The customer is asking for rip rap but I think it will look stupid for the simple fact they hardly have any slope and its maybe a foot drop off not even. I was thinking about maybe selling them on a natural stone wall. Any suggestions?

Rip Rap and Natural Stone wall are two different worlds of price points.

What prompted these people to want rip rap? Example - erosion control, drainage, etc?

These are things you need to find out when meeting with people. Ask questions.

My Equipment Brag List:

-1 CAT hat
-16 pairs of Hanes socks (the Heavy Duty model), many with holes.
-12 pairs of underwear, ranging from Joe Boxers to Jockey, many are in need of replacement. (no more photo requests please)
-hundreds of t-shirts. Some w/ grease stains, some torn & tattered.
-7 pairs of jeans, ranging from Levis to Polo to GAP. 1/2 of them have holes in 'em.
-1 belt
-1 pair of old worn out Nike shoes.

they are wanting it because its been brought up at the recent HOA meeting. I went out and took a look at it while I was in the neighborhood working on another job and told them I would get back with them. They said rip rap because that's what most of the rest of the neighbordhood has but after thinking about it In there situation rip rap I think is going to look horrible.

I don't really see there being much of an erosion issue in this case because there is pretty much no slope and the yard is in a corner on the other side of the a peninsula. There are no boats allowed on the lake so the only real waves hitting it are from wind.
