Seating wall and fireplace

Whats a good distance to set back a seating wall from a firepit? Anyone have any experience with this?

One that i did was a 15' diameter with a 4' diam pit so about 5 feet. Not saying its law but it made sense when i mapped it out.

My Equipment Brag List:

-1 CAT hat
-16 pairs of Hanes socks (the Heavy Duty model), many with holes.
-12 pairs of underwear, ranging from Joe Boxers to Jockey, many are in need of replacement. (no more photo requests please)
-hundreds of t-shirts. Some w/ grease stains, some torn & tattered.
-7 pairs of jeans, ranging from Levis to Polo to GAP. 1/2 of them have holes in 'em.
-1 belt
-1 pair of old worn out Nike shoes.

Is that bench safe? Looks like it could be a domino effect if a part gave out. Just a question, not tryin to bash your work. I think it looks good

if DVS knew the material he would take that back, two different textures.

and no, the bench is unsafe, thats why I installed it. to up the danger factor. (JK, its all glued)

We like to do 5' on wood burning fire pits and around 3.5-4' on gas fire pits.

To the OP 5' is pretty common, here is a few I have done recently. In two of the photos the patios are not 100% finished but you get the idea, all I have here at the house is cell phone pictures.
