Double cut it one way. Then next week double cut it the other way??

Yeah, waste of gas IMO. Warm season grasses and weeds suck! I guess I won't be achieving such a desired look on this lawn. Thanks for all the help though.

warm season grasses are different aren't they? You could aerate and overseed this fall to thicken the turf.

Looks like your overlapping too much to me. Your tires create the outside edges of the stripes and if your over lapping your tires you lose alot of the effect. Try overlapping less and see of that helps
