What to do after heavy traffic

We started playing badminton on my grass and I am wondering if there is anything I could do to help the grass recover in the places the traffic is biggest. After a few hours you can clearly see where we played as the grass is bent and worn out looking in those places. Right now I rake it around a bit and then put loads of water down in those places which seems to help a bit.

Is this the right thing to do? is there anything else I can do?
I try to limit the traffic as much as I can but the grass aint there to just look at it. Not in my family's opinion anyway

Keep watering. The ground will soften up eventually to let the grass roots breath. If this area is going to be a stomping ground for activities, I'd recommend growing a more tolerant grass. (tall fescue comes to mind) Aeration this fall (or sooner depending on conditions worsening) is a must.
