Thanks for that info.

I am a homeowner guy, so I will never change the height once set. I appreciate the opinion tho.

Valk...

If I do that, and rock the blades underneath, what should I be looking for?

My goal is to buy the mower that I can cut my 2/3 of an acre with. I wont need to adjust the height as mentioned since i will only be cutting my lawn. One of the main reasons, beside getting it done faster will be to cut this hill. Its tearing up my one knee when i walk side to side. Ideally, would like to hook up a sulky to go side to side on it so that I still have a knee left. BTW, I am 175lbs.

Do you guys recommend mulching blades? Will regular blades make a mess with clippings?

Idk about a sulky.... The engine is pretty small and its. Belt drive. The front of my mower likes to pop up when mowing hills too

Ideally, little to no play. Spindles do wear out, even when greased regularly...and are not too hard to replace. Even with some paly, they may last a good while.

Might be worth a call to a local Ferris dealer to see how much they will be when the time comes. You'll need the model #, and maybe the serial # off of the mower.

Obtain a copy of an owner's manual for upkeep. Ferris will likely work with you on this. Happy mowing!

If I buy used, I would go ahead and get the model number and serial number from the engine and the body. A little bit of research here and talking with Ferris will give you an idea of what parts on the engine and body are likely to wear out first. Also by going and looking at it you can tell what might need replacing. Bring out a print out of the pricing for all the parts and make sure to study it before you go. Super effective way of getting people to come down on pricing and will give you an idea if it even worth it.
