I know (BTW, equipment looks good Chris) I'm saying he should post 'em up here too, when he gets time.

If you just read this whole thing then you missed the last 2 posts where they talk about his new fleet pictures being on his Facebook page.

I'm not involved in hydroseeding and know very little about its application but comparing your pictures to what I see around my area, many of the companies here seem to apply maybe 1/3 of product you do. Meaning instead of the area looking quite green after spraying it is still very brown and sparse? Assuming there are rates explained on the product for sqft do you apply at that or less or more?

Sorry if you already made mention of this but how fast (as in yards per hour or whatever time measurement) can you apply mulch with the blower? Obviously you need a lot of work to make the machine worth while but seems like that can be quicker and much less labor intensive. But again need the work to support the cost of the machine.

Your work looks fantastic and your business seems to be really moving!!

Taking notes......

I think it's been a year or so since you made the switch back to walk behinds. Has the transition paid off. Is productivity high enough to justify the cost savings in equipment and repairs? Do you have any regrets in the switch or is it full steam ahead?are the employees still ok with it?
Thanks

I cant answer for him, but the company that I work at uses 95% walk behinds, and very basic walk behinds. We buy 36" belt drive. Most of the machines are easily 7-10 years old if not older but still run perfectly. Oil is changed regularly and belts as needed. No other maintenance needed. We have over 200 of them and cut properties that range from 10k up to 1 acre with them. Anything over 1 acre we get one of the standerswe have and again basic as can be. 48" stander with the manual deck heights. Most of these mowers are some of the earliest models that came out have anywhere from 2400-4000 hours on them and still run perfectly. Most of our mowers only run wednesday-friday as well becasue we are detailing on Monday and Tuesday.

I will say productivity is probably a little slower, but not by much.

Maintenance is the big thing. You do a regular maintenance program and keep up on it the mowers will last long. They are saving a lot of money by not having to by all sorts of expensive parts to fix a hydro pump or electrical issues, etc.
