how to bid

Bidding to fill in pool area. Measures 22x34 feet. 10 ft deep. Online estimators come to around 250 yards of soil. I would use fill dirt and topsoil the top foot. I don't want to price per yard because $35 a yard comes to $8750. I feel that's steep. Not sure how to go about this. Comfortable with the bobcat work but unsure on the price. Any thoughts? Am I missing something? Gonna check on dirt costs tomorrow. Should it be bid by yard or total price? Thanks

Use fill dirt or rock and few inches of topsoil on top. Be a lot cheaper
