I wish I had put a piece of rubber on mine. For years I've been going through two pair of boots a season. I thought it was from walkin them off but it was the platform wearing out the boots.

A tunnel deck is deeper up front and more shallow in the back. There's kind of a tunnel of vacuum to move the air and clippings out of the mostly upfront cutting area. They leave a great cut in ideal conditions, but are not so great at dealing with wet grass. This design is for finish mowing...not knocking down super-tall foliage. BOP mowers utilize(d) this design...and I seemed to recall the Surfers (and possibly a few others) did, too. Thus the reason I asked.
