How old do you have to be to get a Applicators License

I just turned 16 and live in VA. Looking to possibly expand and offer some basic fertilizing services in my lawn business next season. How old you I have to be to get a license. I found the website with all the info on getting one but can't seem to find how old I have to be. Can I get one at 16? Thanks in advance!

I would think 18. There are a lot of issues in play including the license from VA, insurance you will need, and being old enough to enter into contracts.

Info at Virginia's web site, which you have probably read, say you need complete training before being licensed. It also says there is no charge. I suspect you could complete the educational requirements before you are 18.

In any event, you sound like a go-getter. Good for you. Keep working and learning.

I believe it will depend on your states government. I know for Illinois it is 18. I would believe most states will follow suit.

I'm not sure about VA but here if you're only doing fertilizer with no pesticides you don't need a license. You have to watch what you're putting down though. Even something as simple as scotts with halts requires a pesticide license but a pure fertilizer doesn't.

18 in VA.... I recently got my reciprocal license and for the power of attorney part, you must be 18.
