Problem with employee

Hi my name is Paul I own a small landscape company in Pittsburgh I have an employee that's been with me 3 years until now it was me and him I gave him a raise from 100 a day to 125 a day . I want him to help me load and unload the equipment everyday he does not feel this is part of his job duties and also dump occasionally . My question to this is I want to cut back his pay ?

Why not pay hourly? If you are only working 40 hours a week your paying the guy 15.50 per hour. That seems a bit steep. Why not pay him 12 or 13 and make him work the extra time?

Agreed. Hourly is the only fair way.

think I may get out

This year has been one issue after another... for a small two truck operation I think I've had enough. The cash flow is terrible this year, and with my first little one on the way, I think it's time to find a steady 9-5. The icing on the cake is the current bill at the garage for work on the trucks. They have both been in since last Sunday. I will likely go until it snows and not renew any of my plowing contacts. Look for some of my equipment to go up for sale in the mars area when the season is over.

honestly not gonna sell the clients! Most of them have been loyal for at least 5 years if not longer, and I was planning on just recommending them to look into some of you guys! PM me contact info if you want on that list. I can't guarantee calls, but consider them "hot leads" since some of these people paid me to take away their mowers because they are much more content to pay someone else. I am more interested they will continue to be satisfied with their service then I am trying to get a fair price off people.
