Sunshine and Warmth

I've noticed in overseeding some of my forest lawns that the areas that receive sunshine for part of the day has germinated and is growing nicely...

Just a few feet away in the same overseed project, very little germination has taken place and the only difference is dappled light...

Is the seed responding to "The Light" or to "The Warmth" provided by the direct sunlight???
(it only shines for about an hour before the shadows move in)

I got germination in < 6 days where the sun shines in but it is now 9 days with little or nothing yet... I didn't realize that there was such a drastic difference...

Now that I know that clay's texture(platelets) has nothing to do with water infiltration, percolation, or drainage
,,, I wonder what does...
