$1.6 Billion Dollars

Brinkman to sell for $1,600,000,000.00
And these guys on here think it's silly to sell your business or your customers. What do you think?

Wouldn't it be funny if there was a thread here on L.S by the board at Brickman titled "Thinking of selling our company, do you guys think 1.6 bil is too much?" HaHaHaHa! Or, it would be even funnier to see it listed in the equipment section! For Sale... 25,000 zero turns, 15,000 walk behinds...... Please no trades! HaHaHa!
But in all seriousness, that is A LOT of money!!!!! But really though, think of how many companies and how much capital Brickman has acquired throughout the years... I mean, in their prime, they were scooping up companies that would gross multiple millions without batting an eye... We are talking big leagues here gentlemen....

But what were they buying? Do you think they purchased these companies because they like to buy used equipment? Or, do you think they were purchasing the customer base, market presence and good will of these companies? You know the stuff that so many on LS say has no value.

You are not even comparing apples to bricks, let alone to oranges.

Most LCO's are small, and do not have a customer list or equipment any where near what companies of that size.

There is no way a two bay repair shop with 4 pumps is going to be valued the way GM or Ford are.

Most small LCO's can be started up on a shoe string to buy equipment, and with a good advertising budget they can get customers for less money then what they would have to pay for an existing landscape business.

I think you are trying to compare selling an established fully self-sufficient business operation to some guy who is selling his used lawn mowing equipment and his unsecured mowing "accounts" along with with his unbranded self-titled business name that has no real self-sufficient business in place to run the operation.

Right. I don't know what protocol they used to buy out people, but am sure they got a better deal than some small timer who would have to 'finance'
