PTO Shaft Clutches

This past fall I acquired a used DR 3pt hitch chipper to use on my CC 7254. I am very pleased with how it works. Unfortunately, it puts too much of a load on the tractors rear pto as now something has failed internally and I have no power.

I am going to have the pto repaired and I want to try to prevent another breakage.

I have looked at pto shaft clutches. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of clutches that mount in line with the shaft? Is a small chipper a suitable application for that type of a device?

Any info will be appreciated, thanks.
