No. It is for comfort. I'm about 6' 1" tall and the handlebar enables me to get the trimmer head lower to the ground without having to bend over or bend my knees.

Without the handlebar, I would either have to be hunched over slightly or have my knees bent quite a bit whenever trimming in order to get the head at the correct height to cut…A Lot less fatigue…I highly recommend giving it a try even if you don't have the issues I have dealing with height.

Thank you very much.

So far, I've been very pleased with the X-One. I have the mulch kit installed and use gator blades with the baffles set in the "B" position…I get a really nice cut and the clippings just get pulverized. I plan on adding the flex forks, the hitch kit and the rear anti-scalp wheel during the off season.

I'm also hoping to find time to paint the scag. Going to use Krylon "Mandarin" http://www.krylon.com/products/dual-paint-primer/ I got it at Walmart for about $5 a can. Scag wanted something like $14 or $16 for a can of their paint.

I'll post some pictures when I'm done and everything is cleaned up real nice.

I never use lacquer-based paints, because of their tendency to "fish eye". Nor do I ever use "all in one" products, as you've linked. I believe in products specific for their purpose. If it's going to be applied to anything with a chance of oily residue, Krylon is guaranteed to "fish eye", even if you pre-clean with lacquer thinner.

BTW, Rustoleum has a "farm equipment" line and their Old Caterpillar Yellow is a perfect match for Hustler. I painted my flex forks with it. They offer an Allis Chalmers Orange and don't know if that'd match your Scag.

I won't be using the Krylon as a primer…I use actual primer for that. "Fish eye" is caused by improper surface preparation and contaminants getting into the finish before it fully cures.

Thanks for the tip on the Rustoleum "Old Caterpillar Yellow".

Old Cat yellow matching Hustler yellow.... never thought about that. Thanks for the tip.

I need to upgrade my seat and add the flex forks too. I've got 77 hours on mine. 60" with the 26 Kaw air cooled. I'm happy with mine too. Bought it last January as a 2012 leftover.

I knew you probably had extensive experience with lacquer and wood and almost didn't post that. I've always had a heck of a time with lacquer-based on metal. I paint for a guy who was formally trained and worked in the automotive refinish industry. He switched to residential and commercial work. Part of that is trim, door, and cabinetry work for contractors. I've seen a lot of the headaches with "fish eye" along the way and try to stay clear of lacquer work.

People get sucked into the "quick drying" marketing on the can, not realizing what they're buying and the differing characteristics of paints. Give me the longest drying stuff there is. I'll take flow over dry time, any day.

I haven't bought the roller yet but it is my understanding that it just bolts into place under the deck in the center.

This is a video on the Super Z (video should start around the 8 minute mark):

I don't have them on mine and have yet to scalp anything with the rear of the deck, as it's so close to the drives. But, as Scott has mentioned, they're cheap insurance. I'd think setting them the same as the other rollers would be correct.
