Inventory Management/Organization

Hey everyone, I am in the process of starting to get everything ready and organized so when mowing season is around I have everything ready to go. I am trying to get some ideas how to keep track of my equipment, handhelds, tools etc when I have 2 crews out working so everyone has their own tools and I want to make an inventory list to make remembering maintaince on time. I was thinking of getting a label maker and making a number system for everything and log it into a spreadsheet. Like label the mowers, blowers,
trimmer 1,2,3...etc. does anyone have suggestions or ideas that would work better, is this idea difficult to keep up with and so on, Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

I would think that labels might fall of with repeated use of the equipment and inclement weather. the golf course I interviewed with had a 3 ring binder with all equipment listed. the service manager kept record of everything by serial and model number of the equipment.

Devise a numbering system.. we use...
13- b123 with the first number bejng the year bought, b= blower and the , last three numbers of serial number...zip tie and small key tag stays on device pretty well..

Make a binder with all the equipment for each truck seperated and each type grouped together.
When maintenance is performed, add a note and date for the service performed...
Also, add a place on the sheet to indicate if it was removed from a trailer and why so you can know where pieces are and what their status is....have a list where this is indicated called...shop inventory....when fixed, place green tape on it and log it back onto the truck

Simple is always the key.

All you need is to make a list.

Get a permanent marker. Then number your equipment. All the equipment on truck 1 gets a number 1. Any equipment for truck 2 gets a number 2 on it.

Truck 1 has two line trimmers. One is marked 1-1 other one 1-2. Truck 2 would be 2-1, 2-2.
