You're correct. Much like building a retaining wall is not hard, building a web site is not difficult. Keeping the wall from falling over, or getting the web site found, are the hard parts.

Re: Facebook Pages, unless you have a built in audience, or can quickly grow (a legitimate) one, it has very little, inherent value. For the vast majority of LCO's, it doesn't have much more value than the link juice provided on your Page to your site.

Yola looks like it will work great, the price is right too. I don't want to repeat myself and get annoying I'm just curious how did you guys get your initial marketing out there door hangers, door to door, mailers, or word of mouth.

cmo, this would be my advice to you. somehow get a price on the door hangers or post cards. a quote with a price will get more of a response. Also try an get a monopoly in subd's so you can stay in there all day and not burn much gas so your prices can be a tad lower but still making the same jack. good luck. door to door daylight to dark. never stop. When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breath then you will have success. good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks Georgia lawn. I think I'm planning on door hangers ill just do door to door when they aren't home ill leave a hanger.

If you go with door hangers have them professionally designed. It makes a difference than just printing them off at home. You will get a better return rate in my opinion. Many options out there. I like adeasprinting.com and they are a sponsor on here. I get them with just the band-it. It stays on any door very well compared to cut-out door hangers.

If you try a website yourself there are many options. I did one at weebly.com and it is very very easy to do, but it is basic. You could get more technical and look into wordpress.

Oh yeah I can't figure out why anyone would even do it at home the cost of ink alone would be outrageous. I'm going as professional as possible logoing the truck professionally embroidering nice collared button down shirts etc.

i do my own printing to help keep cost down. i have never got a quote for someone else to do it for me. i just can't imagine it being close to the same cost. ill give you the benefit that it may look better ( not by much) printing companies got to eat to. i also have nothing better to do. even 1k flyers is time consuming. if i was short for time id consider it. we are about 3 weeks away from our printing party.
i use cheap printers and good cardstock. I'm not sure about Springfield area but in kc, we average 100 flyers per hour. we knock on 0 doors. flyer says everything anyways. smile and wave to everyone. We also try to avoid stepping on grass out of respect. if they are outside then ill talk to them.

Thanks for the info how many flyers total do you go through, also what do you think your call back rate is per 100 flyers.

last season we did 2k flyers. this season we are doing 25k flyers. i always expect a 1% return. HOWEVER it doesn't always work that way. one area we did 500 flyers and only got one. the one was also 3 months later. no other calls period. On the other hand one street we got 7 regular customers and a mulch/plant job. it's all a crap shoot. only guarantees in advertising is if you don't do it you won't get many calls
also what works for us might not work for you. just have to get up and do something. anything . also I'm still learning. i also will probably stop doing flyers next season or the one after.
