What is your 50hp machine? Do you do much mowing with it ? On the Island there are several guys that have the big honking brush mowers ,they charge $250 per hr ,and I'm thinking a mowing deck that can handle up to 3 inch material . So I would focus on field mowing black berry and scotch broom removal.
Does any one have experience with Quick Attach tools?
I currently bill $65 per hr and think I could charge $120 with a CTL.

What do the other guys use? Big honking skids with mowers? If you get one like theirs I would charge the 250 that they are getting. Not sure if I'm understanding what machines they get 250 for. I have a Takeuchi TL120 never had a mower on it.

If I do get a CTL it will have to be used So advice on what to look fore would be good . Can you tell me what the fule burn is on a CTL in the 80 HP range and other expenses to look for
Thanks
At least with Bobcat and CAT, you can get 8-9 hours of work in on a fuel tank running hydraulics occasionally. Mowing probably 8 hours. Maybe slightly less if you are really grunting going up the hills. I can't remember the size tank my CAT had, but my bobcat is 27 gallons for an s750.

The one guy has a ASV PT100 with a vary large forestrey mulching head on it .
For me to focous on 1/2 mowing 1/2 berry removal is the way to go ...I Think

Got it. Still half of what they charge sounds low if you get an 80 horse and a nice mower. Hard to go wrong with most brands. The ones you don't want are the black undercarriage cats, asv's with 1000 hours that need UC work and JCBs or other oddball brands.

A rotary cutter and a mulching head are not comparable in terms of productivity, finished product, maint or fuel consumption.

My reason for a 80 + hp machine is versatility. Low flow cutters run on 20 gpm so they obviously do not need 80 hp too run them.

My Tak TL140 uses between 1 and 3 gallons per hour depending on the job.
As Yellow dog said look at a tank a day which is around 18 gallons.

In my opinion Takeuechi machines are the simplest and very dependable.
Case Bobcat and Cat all put out a great product. Most people favor what they own. For 35k you should be able too find a nice CTL with a cab.
