I'm looking at a sprayer with a 3.5 horse Honda motor. Will that be enough to get by for awhile. It has 300 feet of hose. Not sure of the pump yet. It is an older dultmeier sprayer. Thanks for any advice.

I am not sure if that is enough power. It should be OK if you are applying solution at about 1 gallon per thousand. Probably less gallons will be available if the hose is smaller--like say a 3/8 instead of half-inch.

Ask the seller if he can get 120 pounds pressure and 2 or maybe 3 gallons per minute at the end of the hose. Remember a 6 gal per minute pump--will only put out about 3 gal per minute--due to friction loss in the 300 ft half-inch hose. 3/8 hose will lose more.

Drove 6 hours round trip to get the sprayer. Got there and it has a 5.5 horse Honda so I'm good. Got home and got it all dialed in at 2 gallons a minute. Thanks for the advice Riggle. What's the best way to rig up temp power supply for the reel until I get the plug for the truck? He's gonna take it if his truck in the next couple weeks.I already have an extra battery.

The fat hot wire from the battery connects to the "B" terminal on the starter relay.
The negative side of the batt usually connects to the frame near the reel motor as a ground.

Not on a trailer, I assume.
Later you will wire the starter relay to the truck battery hot wire--in this case--your truck battery will have the negative connected to ground. You will need a wire to connect your reel motor to the truck frame to close the circuit.

When I am spraying with a decent amount of hose out pressure appears to go up an down. I can see the water flow increase and decrease as the hose gets tugged around. The pressure regulator does not work. Is this the problem. I was able to adjust the agitation and the throttle on the engine to get the pressure and gpm (aprox 90psi @2gpm throttle about a quarter up)I want. But out in the field I'm end up with more left in the tank that I should. I have tried adjusting my speed with no success.

Pressure regulator valves sometimes stick; open it all the way to low pressure; spray lube. Crank it down to increase pressure up to about 150. Leave the agitation valve closed until you get enough output flow.

If no success--get a new pressure relief valve--inexpensive. Metal not plastic costs a bit more.

My advice is in addition to getting more tank than you think you need to do the same with the pump. To this day, I am kicking myself for not getting a D50 rather than a D30. My tank is not mechanically agitated so there has to be at least 2 GPM available for jet agitation. I also run a 7 nozzle boom for anything too big for me to walk with the 3 nozzle boom. 1 gallon per 1000 is pushing it with the D30.
