You know what, I'm not sure why I never pulled it out. The area that has the border was there when we bought the house in 2012. Last year I cut out the other area and didn't put in a border. I don't particularly care for them unless stone/pavers which I plan on doing eventually.

My lawn actually does look quite nice this year. I've spent this last weekend leveling out an area where a flower bed used to be in order to plant grass next weekend and get a nice smooth lawn all over
