sealer pealing???

has anyone else have this problem this year or past years? we're getting calls this year from driveways we did last year, some new some previous. we look at one tonight and some spots where just flaking off with my boot. we never had this before. my father thinks we're putting to much sealer. I think its either a bad batch of sealer or just this harsh winter we had. any ideas? thanks

dutchess sealcoating.

Is the sealer flaking on driveways that already have to much sealer applied from every year or other application?
Coal tar on residential should be applied no earlier than 3-4 year intervals as it should last every bit or longer on a properly mixed and applied residential driveway. Otherwise if you applied in cold temps (under 50) this could be the case. My supplier Brewer Co will not warranty there sealer if applied below 50.

well one we had for years last year she called about it flaking so we pressure washed it and used a compressor and got a lot of sealer off. this year she called saying its doing it again so it has to be her driveway idk. another one we did a few years straight do to water spots fading the sealer so my dad's been redoing it for free but this flaking never happened there before. the other few driveways where new to us but never went and seen them yet. we talked to our guy that we bought sealer from and he doesn't have this problem. but the thing is we didn't get calls from other ppl we did with that load, or atleast not yet.
