I think upgrading to a mower with a sulky sounds like a good idea. I had a flat on the velke a few days ago so walked everything the rest of that day, the velke makes a big difference and i wont' go without it if i don't have to.
The Wrangler cargo pants are what I use as well. They work fine and are cheap.

I went to all walk-behinds because of the hills and the only one that does not have a velke is the 36" mower for yards with small gates which gets used very little.

Mountain Khaki DWR pants. Hands down the best outdoor pant for under $100. They keep you cool, are very durable, and they make you look like a business man instead of a homeless dude with lawn mower.

I wear gym shorts with my business t shirt during the hot summer, not as ideal for appearances but guess what, neither is dripping with sweat looking like you're about to go into cardiac arrest.

Go buy one pair of decent polyester golf pants they dry quick they are very breathable and lightweight, they protect your legs while trimming and the grass literally brushes right off . Come on I know I'm not the only guy that wears em.

Mine are made out of nylon. The ate amazing. It's seriously better than wearing nothing at all. Wind blows right through them and sweat dries right off.

back years ago a freind of mine was a male dancer , and a women managed the group of dancers and told them how to cut hair and gave them stage names and stuff like that . so she told him to shave hair off legs because he'd look better to women . so he does and finds out that its alot cooler in summer with legs shaved . so ive always worked outdoors manual labor , construction & landscaping , where sweat alot and get alot of dirt on me in summer so figured ide try it . took electric clippers and sheared hair off legs and now im way cooler . did arms and under arms too and it keeps me cooler .
also i keep a small round quart cooler filled to lid with ice and then water to pour a bit of ice water over me head here n there

Dickies. They need to washed about 10-20 times before they start feeling good though. Get the ones with the metal catch button not the double layers kind with the plastic button.
