Blitz Gas Cans

Hey folks my neighbor gave me a Blitz gas can, 5 gal unit with the enviro flo nozzle broken which I have three new ones so that is not an issue, however my neighbor did poke a small hole in it on the top almost on the seam with a knife tip for more flow "per what he said quote"
My question, has anyone added the yellow vent cap to a plastic can, if so what size hole did you drill for best performance of sealing the hole and did you have to add any adhesive or sealant or did the vent cap completely seal it?
I thought about just drilling his knife tip hole and using an adhesive to try and seal it, but figured the yellow cap would look better and hoping it does seal without any leaking just encase the can was to lay over for any reason, but I would like input from someone that has done this before to see how it worked out.

there's a thread on here about that. Guy used valve stems as the vent. Pretty slick idea. The thread is called "Gas cans, my solution" or something like that.

It's a 1/2 " hole, you can order lots of 5 to 50 of the vents on e-bay pretty cheap, however the "good " old style spouts go for about $20 each on there I tried the valve stems, after a while the fuel gets to them and the part inside falls off into the can.

Thanks for the info gents, I will pick up some of the yellow vent caps now then.
I have the older style enviro-flo spouts which have given me trouble free service from day one when I started buying these cans, thankfully I bought replacements spouts before those sue happy idiots not knowing how to use a gas can sued and put Blitz out of business.

You have had issues with your Blitz can spilling? When you added the vent cap did it leak around it?
I have 3 no spills and really like them as well, I do not think I will ever use anything else in the 2.5 gallon other than No Spill cans, so nice to fill up everything two cycle equipment and never spill a drop of gas. LOL

the problem with the blitz can is the spout is angled. this works good for trimmers or other angled gas openings but it doesn't work well on gas openings that are straight up like on ztr or push mowers.

i did put the vents on them and also tried the ez pour spouts. the spouts are terrible because if you try to bend them to a better angle the plastic breaks and makes a spot where it will leak.

as far as the vents gas will eventually leak around them. i guess you could silicone them into place or something but the gas would probably eat through that too eventually. i've also heard of gas eating trough the rubber tire valve idea as well.

the no spill cans work the best because they make it easy to fill up anything no matter if the opening is straight up or at an angle.
