Heads dont' match....

What are the symptoms if a set of heads don't match on a 400 small block?

You could find yourself with the same symtoms of bad head gaskets. You may find coolant in the oil as well as smoking from the exhaust.

I found out they have matching casting numbers after all... I have a 400 small block tat is acting crazy in my work truck....

400's have a nasty habit of cracking between the intake and exhaust valves on the middle 2 cylinders on the left head

That would be #3 and #5 cylinders. What is yours doing that is "crazy"?
