I think it is a Siberian iris also,possibly needing some thinning? Do a search if you want to find more info, but here is a link just in case.

Jodi,
When we do our fall cleanups we usually cut them back to about 2-3 inches. By doing this you wont get all the dead leafs from last year like the one in your picture. I dont know however if this is the correct way of treating them? PC
