Can I cut metal?
I don't do many modifications myself, and I dont' know a whole lot about fabricating things.
I want to make some modifications to my trailer. I had a basket welded on to the trailer to hold my gas cans and some other things. The basket is up pretty high and the gas cans are a pain to get to. Basically I want to know if my angle grinder will cut through metal if I use the correct disk and cut at the right angle. Any tips, suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Sure. Get a couple "cutting" discs, which are thinner than your standard grinding disc. No special angle needed. Just be careful for kickback. A sawzall would also work with a metal cutting blades (more and smaller teeth per inch than wood).
You'll obviously want to support the basket somehow, as it will want to pinch the disc as you make the cut.

what he said!
I use my little air die grinder with 3" disc and it does fine but the 4" or 5" grinder's do it way faster. Watch for kick back and watch for the disc not to over heat it, i did that just a little bit ago and tossed the disc and cut my thumb.

I'm actually trying to find a new place for my gas cans. They are a PITA to get to right now, I reaching way up and way over things just to get my gas cans down. Especially when they're full and heavy. I'm only 5'9''. Is there danger in having them down low, like say on the wheel well or up near the tongue of the trailer? thanks
