Yeah I agree thats sounds to high. My concern would be if you decide to sell it in a couple of years, for whatever reason, you wont be able to get anything near what you paid.

From my experience the KBB web site is very high on their prices. Nada.com is a lot more in line when it comes to pricing.

Don't get attached to it emotionally. I know the temptation of bright shiny things. But the best deals are made on things that you can walk away from. I would take the best 2 reasons not to buy the truck and just tell the owner that those are the reasons the truck is only worth "x" to you. Here is a good one:

I called my bank, and they will only lend me 9K on a 1996 truck, so that is all I can offer.

I gave $12k for my '95 F-250 XLT SuperCab Longbed, 460, auto, 4x4, tow hitch, 66k miles 2 years ago. I have 87k miles on it now. Retail value still is about $10,500.
