Walker 25hp starter problem

The starter was making noise and and not starting easy and got to where you couldnt start it. So I changed the starter and it has a new battery. It started great the first 4-5 starts, then started doing it again. It makes noise and sounds like it spining, some times it grabs good but then the engine wont start real easy like it did when I first put the new starter in. I really need this mower asap. Thank you for any help!

Its possible you got a bad starter. However, I would have the charging system checked. New battery, new starter.. all is well for a while.. then, its acting up again.. sounds like the battery is draining due to a faulty charging system or lose/corroded connections. Check your battery connections, cables and the ground cables. If all is well there, have the charging system checked.

Theres a volt meter on the mower. It reads 14 when its running, and stays there. When I was trying to start it I think it was going to 12.

Check ALL your electrical connections, have the new battery checked..load tested, if all is well.. I'd say you bought a bad starter. Exchange it and see what happens.

Thanks for the help. I checked all the connections and there was no corrotion at all. Theres one wire that clips to the starter, it was loose, I had to pull it out a little to be tight, Now it starts fine again. I probally changed the starter for nothing Maybe someone can learn from my mistake. lol

Little wire to starter

Yes, I think you identified your original problem. The wire was to the solenoid which engages the starter to the engine. Never hurts to have a spare starter.
