Company Name Starting Question

HEY GUYS,
I'm started a landscape maintenance company a while back which I started without a name. I'm from California, what is the fees and what do you have to do to open a name.

It could be way different for you than it is for me since we are in michigan. But back when we started we went to the county clerks office and set up an assumed name or a doing business as. This offers you no legal pertection whoever so if some one were to sue you they could go after not only the company but also your personal holdings. Your best bet is to get with your cpa and attorney and set up an llc, s-corp, or incorporate. both your cpa and attorney can help you decide which one is best for you. as far as fees go they are minimal for your dba and/or assumed name. Also you can do a search this question has been posted in different formats and probably could provide more info than I can.
