Newly soded lawn and a annoying customer

Anyone know what the correct watering schedule would be for a lawn I just soded at temps being around 58 degrees?

Also my customer was insisting on having me apply crabgrass control, but I was telling him that it wouldn't be that smart to do so because the crabgrass control would probably interfere w/ promoting good root growth. He did not want to hear this, and I'm afraid if I do put it down it might ruin the new sod.

Was I correct in telling him this?

Yes you are absolutly right Pre-Emergents hinder the fine roots that come out of the germinating seed. So yes when new sod is sending out those same little white roots it will in fact do the same thing this also applies to annual beds. Only apply it to established lawns/plants.

Also you should always read the label before applying any chemical and you should be licensed if your offering this as a service!

Ah sorry about the watering question. This is a easy rule of thumb for new sod in cooller months.

Water right after the install
week 1 = every 1 day
week 2 = every 2nd day
week 3 = every 3rd day
week 4 every 4th day

water at least 1" for every watering day
