I have used caulk eliminator in the gaps just push it in the gap about a half inch down then you can use the pourable crack filler. The caulk eliminator if a foam rope that you can buy at any hardware store, it come in 1/4", 1/2" 5/8"and 3/4" dia. by ten foot long. Hope this helps.
