B&S vs Kaw

So what makes Kaw egine so much better than a B&S or B&S ELS?

Kawasaki = commercial engine.
Briggs Vanguard = commercial engine.

Briggs Other = homeowner junk.

I use to hate B&S but I got a 5HP push blower that was made in 1980 and it kicks a** till this day!

Kawasuckies are great, overpriced import engines.
The Briggs doesn't come close in performance, but I feel the price is more in line.

Briggs did make a lot of upgrades and improvements to the ELS series engines but they still do not offer the same longetivity and reliabilty of their Vanguard series. Most of the new models are now coming with a 1 year commercial warranty but the Vanguard still has a 2 year commercial warranty. As a dealer that works on all brands of engines, I really cant say one brand is truly better than the other or one breaks down more than the other, but it does make a big difference depending on what it is going on and on the customers maintance schedule. I would not put anything other than the Vanguard series Briggs on your primary zero turn, but if you have a backup machine that is not used everyday, save some money and get the new Briggs. Buy an engine that you believe in and trust not to leave you stuck with work to be done. As for my primary zero turn, I would put a Kawasaki on it, but the briggs are fine for the small machines like push mowers, walk blowers, etc.

You do realize that Kawasaki V-twins are made in the USA right?

And that alot of Briggs engines are not...

So the air filters are fixed now and they won't throw rods anymore? Hope not.

ELS = Extinguished Life Series
