Amsoil saber 100:1

Anyone use the Amsoil Saber 100:1 in their 2 stroke equipment?. I have a Echo backpack and I am planing on giving it a shot. Is it really safe to run at 100:1??

I run it at 80:1 w/ 89 gas in all my hand held equipment. Most guys here seem to run it at 80:1 as well, not really sure why though. My guess would be because mixing one of those little 8 oz bottles into a 5 gal. can makes exactly 80:1, simple. Plus, 80:1 gives you a slight "grace area" between the actual recommendation of 100:1. 80:1 works for me though, everything I've put it in runs like a top and it'll completely change your hand held's for the better.

I use mine at 80:1. I do that for the reasons WH401 gave. It's been working great for me for 9 seasons now.

I use Opti-2 which is similar to the Amsoil Saber in that it's a synthetic and approximately the same mix ratio.

I definitively recommend any synthetic 2 cycle oil. Less smoke, longer engine life, and easier to have one mix for all 2 cycle equipment.

Opti 2 is not a synthetic and no where on the bottle or their website do they claim to be a synthetic.

Huh. Always thought it was.

They don't say though what the Eutectic additive is though.

Amsoil

Just started using some Amsoil Saber late in the season this year--haven't used it enough to have an opinion. I've also used Opti-2, and have a friend who is a commercial tree trimmer--he only uses the Opti-2 in his Stihl chainsaws.

I do have a question about Amsoil vs Opti-2--I don't find where Amsoil has the higher ratings for 2-cycle oil, Opti-2 does (Opti-2 is rated ISO-EG-D). Could this be a problem with warranty issues if running Amsoil?

I've been using Amsoil Saber pillow packs. I only do weekend work so I don't like to keep large volumes of fuel on hand. I mix a 1.5oz pack witha gallon of 87 octane. Works fantastic!

The only tool that I add a bit more oil to is my chainsaw as it's still relatively new and starts easier on a lower ratio, around 50:1. It's a Poulan 14" for those that were wondering, and it runs great too!

We've used Amsoil Saber at 80:1 and 89 octane gas for about a year now,
with very good results in all of our Kawasaki 2-cycle equipment.
