I have a Mary Kay rep in my BNI group and I'm going to be sending out a couple of gift packages to a few of my clients.

I can spend anywhere from 20 dollars up.

Barnes & Nobles gift cards have always gone over really well for me. Candy/cookie bouquets are popular around thanksgiving/christmas. Also, I've done a gift pack with locally made jams, brownies in a jar, etc.

Anything really unique people tend to remember works well. I try not to spend more $ than one service would usually cost...is this a reasonable formula?

I think this is mostly a personal decision, what makes you feel good about your business and the holidays. There are very successful companies that give gifts and very successful companies that do not.

Chocolates delivered every year. The family and I go to each customer's home usually a week or two before Christmas.

I guess i'm in the minority here, but I do not see why gifts are given, unless maybe to a large commercial/industrial account that is spending 5 figures yearly. (i see the thread starter did say high end clients, so this may be what he is talking about)

Any of you have a housekeeper? Does she give you a gift at Christmas?
How bout your wife's beautician? Does she give your wife a gift?
Or maybe your mechanic, you take your car in in December for your yearly inspection/emissions, and get new brakes also. Does he give you a gift?

The way I see it, it is the other way around, we tip people for the services they provide. I have never had a business give me a gift at Christmas, no matter how frequently I use their service, or shop at their business.
We have 96 customers currently, I would not want to send them each a gift basket.

We do send a Christmas card to each of our customers thanking them and wishing them a Merry Christmas.
