Once you buy a quart of oil how long is it good for?

I usually buy cases of oil for my truck, my wife's SUV, and all my equipment. If I found a really good deal on oil how long would it be good for? I read somewhere on here that it is good for years in the plastic quarts. Is this true?

It will in reality last for YEARS, but you will probably use it up before that ever becomes a concern.
