Do a vac test before the tear down to check for leaks.Could be a bad seal or intake boot unless you know it was straight gassed.

I've rebuild my 440 and my 250 try baileys online or hls pro parts for the rebuild kits. The 440 on takes about 2-4 hrs very simple.
