Yes, by 2015 all lift axles will have to be a steer axle. Cost about $10,000 or so. I have a 20,000lb non steer that will need to be replaced at that time.

I do believe that a steer axle is a lot nicer, you don't have to remember to lift the axle when turning corners. I have forgotten to do so and the truck wont turn.

And the adjustment controls need to be outside the cab?
The steerable is nice but you still have to think?
