I agree and I thought I mentioned it in my post.

I inform the client of what will occur if I mow there dry, dormant grass just to clean up the rough spots. I encourage them to wait. but in the end they are the boss and if they want to pay me to cut it, risking death of the turf and needing a reseed or over seed then I will cut it.

I have a client who's yard is already 1/2 to 3/4 dead yet she insists I come and cut it every other week.

Same thing I tell mine.

There have been a few yards that I just had my guys walk around with the trimmers and knock down the tall spots/weeds. I am even afraid of walking on some lawns. But our feet are much less likely to damage than a mower.
