After a few years you will leave that wheel behind as you will be able to determine from a walk over the time needed to maintain the property and the what portion of that time will be cutting, trimming and blowing or other services you provide. Square feet is but one variable to be considered. Think of it this way. A flat empty 20k lawn will require much less time than a 12k with 10 trees and a fence and walkway. Nothing wrong with accurate measurements; but so many other factors are equally if not more important.

I use a laser range finder when I visit a property for estimates to check the size of the lot. I just happened to have one for hunting purposes and it's really handy for estimates.

The next time someone complains about your pricing, ask them how much their barber would charge to come over and cut their hair.

I use the wheel primarily for measuring for mulch, fill dirt & topsoil. I really don't use it for lawn mowing estimates.
