I replaced the old Nightscaping analog timer (AT) with a Grasslin timer by Intermatic FM/1 series. The FM/1 series fits the same round hole where the old Nightscaping timer was installed.

Sounds like a lot of work researching the unit and multiple trips to and from the clients house........ time is money. I agree with the concept of simply switching out the transformer, and I recommend having a few on your truck at all times. By the time I calculated the expense in looking for a replacement timer, going back to the property 2 or 3 times before finally finishing the job, a new transformer replaced on the spot would have been much cheaper for the client. Just my opinion though.
