Grandstand hydro problems, suggestions?

I have a 2009 48" grandstand with the 19hp kawasai kai engine. The problem I am having is that the controls are really hard to push. I mean like your hands will be sore and cramping hard to push. There is so much tension that the cables going from the hydros to the control levers have broken 3 times where they connect at the the levers. I've tried adjusting the cables and that help get me more and less speed but no more or less tension on the control levers. Any ideas on what can be done? I cant really afford to have the dealer hold this thing for a week or two while waiting on parts and what not. Thanks

Has the update been done to it that reworks all of that?

I bought it used and wasnt aware that there was an update. I doubt the guy who sold it to me had it done

I have the same mower. Keep an eye on the left balljoint, 3 have broke already on mine this year. I ended up ordering a few online and keep them in the truck just in case. Pretty bad when you have to carry spare parts for a 3 yr old mower. Luckily the performance and cut quality is exceptional, so the pros outweigh the cons.

Actually, they aren't ball joints anymore. They're heim joints. The old ball joints were replaced 2 years ago. I have some units out with close to 2000 hrs and haven't seen one of the new joints fail. The speed control has to go if it's still on anyone's machine. Linkage on some of the original ones wears and binds in as little as 100 hrs.

Unfortunately Toro customer service is useless and the dealer support in my area is just as bad. Both dealers are more concerned with tractor sales and really do not know much about commercial stand ons or zturns. Thanks for the info about the balljoints, it is a shame I need to get this information from here and not a dealer. I already have a large stock of balljoints, once they all break, which should not take long, I will look into the new ones.
