I have a 2001 2500 6.0. Check it with a scanner yourself. Make sure the CEL doesn't flash around 2200 RPMS. Common problem with the 6.0, multiple misfires, code from hell. Cats and O2 censers are expensive, they go pretty easy, especially rotting while sitting. I had to really go through mine when I got it (at 45,000 or so) and replace A LOT of parts.

Trucks don't like to sit. I'd offer him 8000, because you could end up throwing some money at this truck to turn it into a reliable work truck. Been there done that. The 6.0 is a good engine otherwise. Pulls my mowing rig like nothing and I pull a really heavy duty 7x12 dump trailer filled up with logs with the thing and it does better than I'd expect. Pushes snow like a champ. It loves gas though.

That is a sharp lookin truck! If you have any questions let me know I'd be happy to answer. Good luck!
