Might be an option for initial cleanup but he would like to keep it maintained on ongoing basis (clean understory) for good sightlines during hunting season.

The Garlon series looks like it will do the job. I will price it next time I go by my supplier. They also sell a lot of veg magmt products too.

Depending on the pine type, burns are effective and beneficial in the early stages.
